Fear the Son of ACTA! →
The Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) includes some things that make even less sense then the original secret ACTA pact. Whatever happened to all of the pledges for transparency in government?
These secret intellectual property treaties serve only to stifle innovation and enrich the lawyers.
Some of the craziness in the new agreement include:
Forbidding third party opposition to patent...
I just got my Neko Heavy Industries notebooks in the mail. Since it’s Ipad Friday and I don’t have a new ipad to unwrap, I thought I would record an unwrap video for the new Neko Heavy Industries notebooks I just got.
After I had recorded the video I picked up the envelope and discovered there was a really cool pencil inside. It’s not on the video, but I snapped a pic of it...

Detroit Lives (part 3 of 3)
Detroit Lives (part 2 of 3)
Friends and family often ask me why I continue to stay in Metro Detroit. Palladium boots made a series of videos titled “Detroit Lives” that sums up much of it nicely.
I could have done with less urban spelunking in the videos, but all-in-all they do a nice job of highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of our city.

For the icebreaker/warmup at Startup Weekend 2010 (#swd2010) we were put into random teams and given two random words with which to build a business pitch around. Our team was given the words “Tree” & “Tiger” which were turned into a pitch for the Tigers Stadium Tree Farm.

Startup weekend is starting up
Startup weekend Detroit is getting started. My planning to avoid Friday rush hour and hart plaza hoedown traffic was unneeded as I ended up here about 20 minutes early.
So far so good. The wifi is much better this year than last.
Still haven’t finalized an idea to pitch, but who knows, maybe someone else will have the perfect idea first. Video to come later…

Startup Weekend begins tomorrow
Tomorrow begins Startup Weekend, one of the coolest business, networking and development events I’ve ever attended. The event puts 50-75 entrepreneur, techie and marketings types into a room for the weekend to launch as many startups as possible.
Last year I took part in a fizzled startup called StatsBragger.com that was trying to create a virtual trading card for everyday events…...

Two down.....
Spanish lessons are scheduled. Just knocking out the prep work for these goals this week… Spanish lessons start in two weeks.
Things are moving quickly.
Just got confirmation on my sailing lessons. I’ll be learning on Wild Heart, a Tartan 27 docked on the Clinton River.
This is the boat I’ll be sailing for the lessons on Lake St. Clair. The lessons begin in late April.

Updated Dreamline Worksheet →
The Excel Dreamlining spreadsheet at the http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/ has a few issues. It doesn’t calculate the correct TDI and TMI (Target Daily/Monthly Income) for items that have a single (lump sum) cost.
Jared Goralnick, the creator of the spreadsheet has put out an updated version (currently version 2.0) that can be downloaded from his...

dreamlines
I’ve committed my initial dreamline to print and to this blog. After some consideration, here it is:
As much as I would like to pull off the full globe-trotting geo-arbitrage thing, it’s not what I’m looking to do right now. Instead I’ve decided to take care of some things I’ve wanted to do for a long time (most of my life really) that had been sitting on a...

Another blog? Really?
Yes sir, yet another blog… A couple months back I heard that Tim Ferriss was releasing a new updated version of is modern day classic The Four Hour Work Week.
Over the past few years I had given away many copies of 4HWW to friends that needed inspiration or ideas. I’ve been a huge proponent of this book, so when I heard that a new version was being released I decided I had to get yet...
